Have you ever wanted to paint abstract landscapes but weren’t quite sure where to begin? This workshop will help you look afresh, distil, and simplify.
Using photographs of the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, we will start to explore ways into abstraction and begin generating lively, dynamic compositions inspired by the local landscape.
Following some fun mark-making exercises in a variety of media, we will move on to a series of line and tonal studies, then begin to connect our ideas using colour.
During the afternoon we will explore how to capitalise on the morning’s exercises.
Whether you are an artist or craft maker or embarking for the first time with little experience, Kate and Nicola encourage & celebrate the development of the creative voice in all students they meet, whilst having a few laughs on the way.
And just to reassure you …. As Artists, practicing designers & Educators for over 25 years, both Kate Johnson (BA Artist/Printmaker) & Nicola Taylor (MA RCA) offer expertise & personalised tuition in all areas of Art and Design.
This workshop consists of a morning session of demonstrations and trying out techniques & an afternoon session of producing one or more paintings to take home.
A vegetarian lunch will be provided.
All art materials are supplied so all you need to bring is yourself.

12.30 -1.15 Lunch
1.15 - 3.00 - Afternoon session – Expanding upon and inspired by the techniques learnt during the mornings workshop. Developing your style by producing a collection of abstracted art work
